After working as a US Senate staffer, I learned something most people get wrong about advocacy: the organizations that win aren't the loudest or have the deepest pockets - they're the most strategic.
I've spent nearly 25 years on every side of the advocacy desk: as a grassroots advocacy director, lobbyist, communications director, and consultant. I've watched nonprofits struggle to get lawmakers' attention, and I've helped others pass landmark legislation and build advocate networks that actually show up.
I founded Snyder Strategies because I kept meeting nonprofit leaders who were doing all the right things - sending alerts, showing up at the Capitol, activating their boards - and still couldn't get their members and advocates to act.
They weren't failing because they didn't care. They were failing because no one gave them a roadmap.
