Caring is not the same thing as showing up. And community requires both.


We like to believe we’re part of strong communities. But when you look a little closer, a lot of what we call “community” is just shared values and good intentions.


That’s not what holds when things get hard.


After watching how Minneapolis has responded to repeated crises, I’ve been thinking about what actually makes a community resilient and where many of us are falling short.
